Primary Research
Primary research is research which is carried out to answer specific questions what you may want to know. To do this you may want to use questionnaires or surveys.
What did I do?
What I did for the primary research is a survey for people of the college to fill out. I did this survey on Surveymonkey and I asked them things like 'Who do you think this advert will be made for?' and questions like 'What time would you imagine this advert being on TV?'
We also asked before the advert was made what they thought the colour the bottle should be in the advert. It ended up with being black and silver.
Secondary Research
Secondary research is research that makes use of the previous research so that you can make different purposes. We used secondary research to help us figure out what needed improving on our final piece to make it look spot on.
What did I do?
We did this by having a gathering in the class and watching the trailer in front of everyone and going back on the negatives they gave us and improving on them.
Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is more to do with the numerical/data related research for example statistics or point of views towards something.
What did I do?
What I did for this is I conducted a survey together for the completed advert, sent it to a few of the members in my class at random and got them to give me feedback on what they thought about the advert. What this did was proposed change to my final piece. The only examples that I could give for this is when we decided to get people to choose what the colour of the fragrance bottle will be and also the survey for the final piece.
Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is research that allows an insight into the problems, theories or issue. It almost tries to find out why it's the way it is.
What did I do?
What I did was get a focus group and I presented what my brand was in front of them and also said how I was going to re-brand it in my own way. This then gives me a chance to find out what is good/bad about my idea and lets me work upon the crowd's opinions. It's a strong example of my qualitative research due to the fact that it actually really helped towards my final piece.
BARB

source for movie and TV content. They offer a database of more than 100 million data items including more than 2

Audience Market Research
Audience market research is what it says. Simply Market research towards your chosen audience. This research method is done for one purpose; To make your audience happy. Audience market research is a crucial step in selling a product. This is due to the fact that if the customer doesn't like your product, he/she obviously won't but i. So you need to know what the audience like. We all assume we know what our customers want when in reality we might not have a clue. This can result in a poor investment into something no one will buy.
I made sure that with my product that it was what the public would have wanted before I started making further plans with it. For this I had a focus group. I basically said my idea and who it was aimed for and my focus group gave me feedback on whether they thought that would work or not. In conclusion they did; however, if I was to not do that they could of thought it was a bad product and it would of ended up being a complete waste of time. Also I did this with the colour of the bottle. If I didn't ask the public what colour I should make the bottle they may of thought it looked horrible. That would have been a bad selling point as the first reason you see a product is because the look catches your attention and makes you interested.
Production Research
For production research I had to find out what locations I could use and what would be most suitable. The recce has what all the details on such as the time of use. Secondly I used a location release. A location release is a form where you get the owner of a property to sign. This will allow you to work on a sight legally. And this is what I had to do for every location I had. I also had to do a budget sheet. You get a specific budget for your production and with this money you can purchase your props and costumes etc. I got a budget of £5 for my production and I didn't need to go within my budget at all due to the fact of the college's supplies. Another thing to go on to my production research was the risk assessment. This is a sheet which is covering all the potential dangers within the set. For example if someone had to jump over a table, the risk assessment would try and cover the safest possible way to do that to make sure you don't hurt yourself. Lastly I used a production schedule. This is so that you can manage your time wisely. It also showed us what props were needed where and when. It also showed us the time, date and the weather for the locations.
Chris,
ReplyDeleteI am shocked that this is not yet finished, you have had a very long time and I allowed you to work from home. This is very disappointing.
